Stairlift Installation in Colchester
From free survey to fitting day and ongoing servicing: what to expect at every step.
The installation process
- Free home survey. We measure your staircase, check the top and bottom landings and talk about how you will use the lift. Here is what happens at the survey.
- Your quote. You get a fixed written price including fitting. Use the cost calculator beforehand if you want a feel for the range.
- Order and, for curved stairs, manufacture. A straight stairlift can often be fitted the next day. A curved stairlift rail is made to order, which takes a few weeks.
- Fitting day. Our DBS checked engineers fit the rail and chair, test every safety feature and show you how to use the controls. Read how long installation takes.
- Aftercare. Annual servicing and fast repairs keep it reliable. See the servicing guide and what happens in a power cut.
What we need from you
- Access to the staircase and a nearby socket for charging
- Someone at home for the survey and fitting
- The person who will use the lift, so we can check seat height and controls
Fitted to suit local homes
We fit stairlifts in terraces in central Colchester, estate homes in Stanway, riverside homes in Wivenhoe and chalet bungalows around Tiptree. If your home is listed or in a conservation area, read our guide first.
When the lift is no longer needed
We remove stairlifts safely for around £200 (straight) to £350 (curved). See stairlift removal and selling or removing an old stairlift.
Installation questions
How long does stairlift installation take?
A straight stairlift is usually fitted in a few hours, and next-day installation is often possible. A curved stairlift needs a rail made to order, so allow a few weeks from survey to fitting, then around half a day to a day to install.
Will you make a mess of my stairs?
Fitting is tidy. The rail fixes to the stair treads, not the wall, so there is little disruption. Our engineers clean up before they leave.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes, for the survey and for fitting, so the engineer can set the lift up for you and run through the controls.
What aftercare do you offer?
Annual servicing, repairs and breakdown visits across Colchester and north Essex. See repairs and servicing.
