Lexden is one of the most sought after parts of Colchester, a leafy suburb of large Victorian and Edwardian villas, with parts of it designated a conservation area.

Homes and staircases in Lexden

These are substantial homes with wide staircases, half landings, turned flights and original timber banisters. Many staircases are curved or have an intermediate landing, which calls for a made-to-measure rail.

Local tip: Original banisters and newel posts are often beautiful and valuable, so we choose rails that leave them untouched and fix to the treads.
